Luna Maya Sugeng (born in Denpasar, Bali, August 26, 1983) is an Indonesian soap opera actress, and big screen movie that started her career as an advertising and catwalk model.
Luna began her career as a model. She jumped into the movie world in 2004 with a supporting role in the film 30 hari Mencari Cinta (30 Days Looking for Love). In the movie, she acted as Barbara, a beautiful and sexy girl who becomes a man's dream. This was the first of her roles as an antagonist. After that she appeared in the movie Brownies in 2005. In the film directed by Hanung Bramantyo, she also appeared in a supporting role. Luna's first role as a main character was as Mina in the Bangsal 13 (13th Ward) in the same year.
luna's name soared increasingly Indonesian entertainment, after she played a role in the film Cinta Silver Silver's Love and became romantically associated with Ariel, the vocalist of the popular band, Peterpan.
After Cinta Silver, Luna appeared in Ruang (film), where her acting was rewarded several nominations at the national film awards and the Indonesian Film Festival. In addition to movies, she also acted in soap operas, often known as sinetron. Some of soap operas that she starred in were, among others, Dan, Kau dan Aku, Ada Cinta, Rahasiaku, Anggun (soap opera), Cahaya Surga, Sujudku, Yasmin, Dewi, Astro Nusantara, and Akhir Cinta.
Luna, also starred in a number of leading advertising products such as Lux (soap), Zestea, Sarimie, Vitalong C, XL, Bukrim Detergent and Toshiba.
These series of achievements by her led to being selected as one of the torchbearers in the 2008 Summer Olympics. Together with Sandra Dewi, she contributed to singing in the UEFA Euro 2008 theme song, entitled "Play".
Realizing that her career in the entertainment world could not be relied upon forever, she began to study business. Luna opened a boutique named LM For Hardware in Bandung and Jakarta. Recently, launching Luna Lounge / Cafe in Bandung named Envy.
She became the presenter of Dahsyat along with Olga Syahputra and Raffi Ahmad. She increasingly strengthened her position as one of the highest earning artists to date. Through the flagship music program Dahsyat, she got a chance to interview Hillary Clinton the USA foreign minister during her visit to Jakarta.
After her collaboration with Sandra Dewi and Dewi Sandra, Luna returned to a collaboration, this time with Dide,an Indonesian band vocalist of Hijau Daun. They sang the song "Suara (Ku berharap)" which is in the dangdut genre. This song became the soundtrack for Luna's latest movie , Janda Kembang (film). She also contributed the song "Menuju SurgaMu" byAlam Urbach}. Additionally, she also expanded to the field of directing with short 'indie' film titled Suci And The City and video clips for new singer Nadia (Dhea Ananda), entitled "Kau Tak Setia". She was also produced Nadia's new album, and video clips from a new band named Malka.
Luna increasingly proved popular collecting more than a hundred thousand followers on "Twitter" in a short time. This was more rapid than Hollywood actor Ashton Kutcher.
Recently, Luna won the Special Mention Award for short film directed Suci And the City on Awarding LA Lights Indie Movie Night. Sugeng's name was read as a nominee for Favorite Actress category and Presenter Favorite Music Variety Show.
In addition to hostingDahsyat, Luna Indonesia's Showbiz Insiders was the # 1 Highest Paid TV Star in Indonesia in 2009 and the # 3 Highest Paid Actress in 2009, also still exist in the world film industry. In her latest film Ratu Kostmopolitan a genre Action Comedy and tilled by the director Ody C. Harahap, she together with Imey Liem and Tyas Mirasih showed their expertise in martial arts. In addition, for the first time, in cooperation with Luna's boyfriend, Ariel, appeared in recent Lux (soap) advertisements.
In June 2010, Luna Maya has become embroiled in controversy over a viral sex video with her boyfriend Ariel which was posted on web sites in June 2010.Luna however step by step has gained back her popularity, being invited on some music stages to promote her new single, shooting for an FTV and an indie movie.
